A beautiful lady adjusts her hosiery in this public domain advertising image. While this is a photograph of the original watercolor, this picture was used in print to promote a now-defunct hosiery company.
The lady kneels upon a satin pillow as she adjusts her stockings. She’s wearing a pink/peach dress with dark lace trim and a ribbon belt with a transparent cape. This illustration is a wonderful depiction of 1920s fashion as well as the art deco style. It is the work of Clarence Coles Phillips (1880-1927).
This image is copyright free and in the public domain anywhere that extends copyrights 70 years after death or at least 120 years after publication when the original illustrator is unknown.
