Vintage U drawing from 1881 or before. Most likely a print foundry or stock type image, this vintage letter image may have been used by many publishers before it was included in an 1881 French work entitled Contes de Restif de la Bretonne.
It’s a pretty letter U but unfortunately it is quite small. There’s flowers and something hanging from a garland between the two uprights, it looks a bit like a bow and arrow to me. The overall appearance reminds me somehow of Cupid and his arrows.
