Vintage decorated letter A image. How do I describe this interesting fancy letter image? It has a letter A that looks a bit like a it was carved. It has stripes and a bit of an artistic touch in the cross arm. Some of the letter A is covered with the decorations but it remains clearly a letter A. More than doodles surrounding a letter, this decorated letter A image looks well-thought out and planed as the delicate decorations become part of the letter rather than simply adorning it.
Thomas E. Hill published Hill’s Album of Biography and Art in 1882. It included a number of wonderful illustrations and stock print foundry images.
