Five wolf cubs play on this vintage page spacer image. They climb in and around each other and some decorative vines. The wolves are white and they appear on a black background. The quality of this vintage border image is one of the best I’ve seen in a long time. It was from a limited-edition book that was probably given more care in the printing than most books of its time.
There’s also another page spacer image that has similar vines and includes these dog/wolf-like creatures. It can be found on Mythical Page Spacer Design.
James Drummond did not identify the artists who illustrated his book Highland Targets and Other Shields but we sure are lucky the 1873 work included such useful pieces like this one.
