This vintage illustration appeared in the 1873 work Original Christmas Stories: The bell fo the fruits, Little Betty, The naughty little squirrel and How they helped Santa Claus. The publisher, Baldwin the Clothier, most likely commissioned this work as a Christmas favor for their customers. It did not identify the authors of the short stories or the illustrator(s).
