Oh what fun it looks like everyone is having at this animal party. A pink pig is dancing a jig and keeping everyone entertained except for the mother hen who fears for her two chicks that are tumbling over each other trying to get off the dance floor. Monkeys, a giraffe, an elephant, a hippo and a pair of penguins are among the honored guests. When it comes to vintage children’s illustrations showing anthropomorphic animals, this one is a keeper.
Johnny Crow’s Garden contained so many charming drawings. They were published in 1903 and were drawn by the artist Leonard Leslie Brooke (1862-1940).
