This bold and striking flower drawing is by the artist Christopher Dresser (1834-1904). It is from his book Principles of Decorative Design which was published in 1870. It is clearly in the public domain which means we can use it freely for our own artistic endeavors. I think it would make a striking quilt appliqué but it would require some careful cutting and stitching.
I would think it would also make a nice all-over repeating pattern for a background.
This black and white artistic flowers drawing features two buttercup-like flowers in bloom. The stylized leaves and plants are almost more dramatic than the flowers themselves.
This image is copyright free and in the public domain anywhere that extends copyrights 70 years after death or at least 120 years after publication when the original illustrator is unknown.
