Vintage drawing of the famous angler and author Izaak Walton.
Izaak Walton is perhaps most well known for his authoritative work on fishing entitled The Compleat Angler. Walton lived his entire life in the United Kingdom, dying at the age of 90 in December 1683.
Anyone researching Walton might find this black and white portrait of him to be of great use. With Walton comfortably sitting on the shore reading a book with his fishing pole at the ready for an unsuspecting fish, this charming image shows much of the gentleman’s personality.
This vintage drawing was included in Little Snowdrop’s Picture Book, published by George Routledge and Sons of London around 1879.
