Is it any wonder asters attract butterflies when they have such brightly colored blooms as this flower does? Depending upon the variety, they can grow anywhere from 8 inches to 8 feet tall.
This aster flower drawing dates back to 1858. It was included in a wonderful book full of hand-watercolored plated of flowers and plants. This particular image is of a purple, blue flower with a yellow center on a cut stem with a few leaves. I think it’s a rather striking piece because of the dark blue color on the white background – simple, yet eye-catching.
This flower drawing was included in Lessons From the Vegetable World which was published in 1858.
