Lovely book plate illustration with bees, bee hives and morning glories. Bright pink, blue ad white morning glories are being visited by honey bees in this public domain insect drawing. The drawing also features bee hives and even distant trees in the background. This is one beautiful image that will truly get your creative thoughts going on how you could use it for your next arts and crafts project.
Publishers Thomas Nelson & Sons identified Mary (1817-1893) and Elizabeth (1823-1873) Kirby as the “creators” of Aunt Martha’s Corner Cupboard in 1875. I’m not sure if that means they wrote and illustrated the book or not. But, whether one or both of them was the illustrator or some nameless artist provided them, they are easily in the public domain by any copyright standard.
