Is this not the cutest little Pilgrim sending us Best Wishes for Thanksgiving? It’s a Clapsaddle in every way and one that I hope will bring a smile to your day.
Ellen Clapsaddle Thanksgiving Greeting
Ellen Clapsaddle (1865-1934) created over 3,000 designs that graced the postcards published by The International Art Publishing Co. Ltd. of New York. Clapsaddle was one of the most prolific and most collected artists from the Golden Age of Postcards. Much of her work featured charming Victorian children in holiday costumes.
Best Wishes for Thanksgiving Greeting Card
Such a sweet little child in their Pilgrim costume. The tall black hat, with a silver buckle, seems almost as tall as the little boy. He is carrying a large wicker basket full of nature’s bounty – corn, apples, grapes and other yummy good things from the garden.
The card bears the message:
Best Wishes for Thanksgiving
For Auld
Lang Syne.
