Looking a bit like the bird version of the war of the roses, this dramatic page spacer image is from an 1881 French book. In this black and white drawing we have a pair of birds looking as if they are facing off with each other. They both are sitting perched on a branch of roses in bloom. It’s bold, it’s dramatic and it would make such a great addition to a mixed media or altered art project.
When I first saw it, it made me think of eagles. But, I suspect these fierce birds are something much smaller; maybe even doves.
