Dramatic Japanese Bird

I love these highly dramatic black and white vintage drawings. This one is of a Japanese stencil that was included in a decorating magazine. With its wings around its body and over its head, this bird is definitely telling the world “look at me.” While not surrounded by a circle, this bird image has a distinctive circular shape created by the wings.

This graphic was included in the January 1, 1884; volume 3 edition of The Decorator and Furnisher magazine.

This image is copyright free and in the public domain anywhere that extends copyrights 70 years after death or at least 120 years after publication when the original illustrator is unknown.
