April showers bring may flowers but heavy winds lead to a broken umbrella. Have you ever faced weather so mean and nasty that it turned your umbrella inside-out. All I wanted to do was take my already broken umbrella and beat it on the sidewalk until it became a bunch of little pieces. But, what most of us do instead is to desperately wrestle with the darn thing in hopes of getting it fixed and getting out of the rain.
This stormy, but fun, vintage illustration is from a 1911 book illustrated by Oliver Herford (1863-1935).
