Vintage book illustration of Buddha, the founder of Buddhism. Born around 670 years before Christ, Buddha strove to teach man to attain a pure and holy life. His teachings included many things that a good person should do whether they are followers of Buddhism or not. Who could argue with the merits of not lying, hating, speaking ill of others or killing?
I’m so happy I found Hill’s Album of Biography and Art. It is unclear whether the illustrations are the work of the author. But what is clear is that this large 1882 children’s book by Thomas E. Hill was full of wonderful illustrations like this portrait of Buddha.
