Thank goodness this black and white flea image is not life-sized. These parasitic insects are the scourge of pet owners. But, in case anyone was needing a scientific drawing of a flea; here it is.
The History of Insects was published in 1813 without identifying an illustrator. Which is truly a shame because the work is full of wonderful insect drawings like this one.
