Building Sandcastles

A pair of children site on the beach building sandcastles with their dog. A parent or grandparent sits a little taller on the dunes to watch over the children and perhaps enjoy the sunshine and breezes. Off in the distance, it looks like there might be a port or marina. Sea gulls soar above everyone, enjoying their own fun at the beach.

This vintage drawing is the work of Elmer Boyd Smith (1860-1943). He wrote and illustrated The Seashore Book which was published in 1912.

This image is copyright free and in the public domain anywhere that extends copyrights 70 years after death or at least 120 years after publication when the original illustrator is unknown.
