OK, so this isn’t specifically a drawing of a butterfly like the other butterfly images on Reusable Art. But, somehow burying it among the images of children with animals doesn’t seem to do justice to this vintage black and white drawing.
We see a cute little girl meeting a butterfly, perhaps for the first time. We only see the little girl from behind but we see enough of her face and hands to know that she’s enchanted by the butterfly.
I think this is a spectacular image to use in a scrapbook page or other remembrance piece of a little girl exploring the world for the first time. But, it’s also a wonderfully charming butterfly drawing. The Nursery, February 1877 is where I found this illustration.
This image is copyright free and in the public domain anywhere that extends copyrights 70 years after death or at least 120 years after publication when the original illustrator is unknown.
