This vintage animal illustration is the work of Jemima Blackburn (1823-1909). It apeared in The Cat’s Pulgrimage from 1870.
A fierce looking kitty sits in front of a fireplace. What could this fellow be thinking as he stares so intently with a kettle steaming behind him? This black and white cat image is on the larger side and our furry friend has a bit of an Egyptian look with the dark coloring around his eyes.
This image is copyright free and in the public domain anywhere that extends copyrights 70 years after death or at least 120 years after publication when the original illustrator is unknown.
