This fancy letter C image is decorated with some doodles inside the letter and is part of a set of 13 drop cap letters from the same text.
All of the letter images in this set are in the public domain. The other letters include: A, B, E, H, I, L, M, N, O, S, T and U.
All of these letter images were included in the 1872 publicaiton A Book of Emblems with Interpretations Thereof. It remains unclear if the publishers Bell and Daldy used letters from a print foundry, they were drawn by the author Alfred Gatty (1809-1873) or they were drawn by some un-named artist.
This image is copyright free and in the public domain anywhere that extends copyrights 70 years after death or at least 120 years after publication when the original illustrator is unknown.
