Black and white drawing of a large cottage with outbuildings and a church in the background. Three chimneys and two dormers would indicate this is a house of someone of means but its overall simple lines appear to be those of a country cottage rather than a manor house.
This is another of those wonderful children’s books which provided a bunch of great vintage images for Reusable Art. National Rhymes of the Nursery did not include a publication date, but the artist was Gordon Browne (1858-1932) and his work is in the public domain.
This image is copyright free and in the public domain anywhere that extends copyrights 70 years after death or at least 120 years after publication when the original illustrator is unknown.
