Cottage drawing from a vintage book on drawing. The author used this cottage drawing to show perspective to make the pathway look like it is going uphill. We have another matching building image that shows how to draw the path going downhill. To me this cottage drawing is so much more useful than as a simple instructional tool, I think it begins a story about someone leaving. It has a quiet, country feeling that speaks Old World to me. It seems like this cottage would be more at home in France than it would be in America. No matter where this country cottage may be in your imagination, it could easily be in your next project with a few clicks of your mouse.
This drawing and a number of others were drawn by William Walker (b. 1821) and included in his Handbook of Drawing from 1880.
