Charming cottage image from a book all about drawing. In this drawing, there’s a woman walking away from the cottage to places unknown. The cottage is located on the slope of a gentle hill. It has a chimney for those cold nights at the base of the mountains where it sits. A large tree seems more a companion than a provider of shade. A stone wall protects both.
This drawing and a number of others were drawn by William Walker (b. 1821) and included in his Handbook of Drawing from 1880.
