Such a cute Valentine’s Day image. And, how ironic that it was used as a page spacer in a historical 1891 work honoring soldiers who fought in the American Civil War.
I’ve called it Cupid Chariot because that’s what it looks like to me. Cupid has one of his arrows tightly grasped in one hand while he holds the reins over two love birds. The wheels of his chariot look like they are made with wedding rings. The artist was not identified but I suspect his or her initials were L.J. (check out the inscription on the ring). How fun would it be to edit this vintage drawing and make it your own by adding your own or your beloved’s initials there instead?
