A donkey stands sentinel on a sea wall as if he is waiting for his master to return home. He stands among sea birds that might be puffins above a fierce-looking sea on what looks like a stormy day. Another interesting illustration by Harrison Weir that could be used by children to write stories.
The official illustrator for The Christmas Tree was Harrison Weir (1824-1906). It was published in 1885 with a number of Weir’s drawings along with publisher images often used to decorated headings and footers.
