I really like this fancy letter E image. If you look at it closely, you can see a second E, growing like roots within the solid black letter E. Surrounding the E are curli-ques and lines making it a most interesting drop cap image.
I’m so happy I found Hill’s Album of Biography and Art. It is unclear whether the illustrations are the work of the author. But what is clear is that this large 1882 children’s book by Thomas E. Hill was full of wonderful illustrations.
