This fancy letter image is one of several we found in the same book, all presume to have been drawn by the same artist. The other letters in the set include:
A, C, H, I, L, N, O, S, T and W.
Each of the letters in this group measure around 100 pixels by 110 pixels. They all have a rectangular frame around the edge and a dark capital letter in the middle surrounded by swirls and curls.
Ernets Ingersoll’s publishers decorated his 1887 work The Crest of the Continent with these fancy letter, drop cap images.
