Some of these vintage etchings look as if they were drawn yesterday. The lines are fairly crisp and the entire drawing would make a wonderful postcard.
Today’s piece comes from a poetry compilation Ballads of Beauty. What a great name for this picture. We have three beautiful women floating in a small boat amongst a number of water lilies. The youngest woman is reaching over the side of the boat to pluck one of the lily flowers from the water. I think this drawing of three ladies floating among lilies has a certain serenity to it of a lazy summer day on the water and tucked under some trees. The apparel of the ladies does date the picture a bit, the book was published in 1878, but I think the general appeal of it is timeless.
