I always get a little excited when I can add vintage images that are this old. This floral banner drawing dates back to 1715. I think at this point, any conversation on copyright is a bit mute but just in case…this is a public domain floral banner drawing.
It features somewhat medallion-like floral elements grouped in fours across the width of the banner. The ends are trimmed with pairs of flowering plants will leaves, a flower in full bloom and a flower bud. It is from the same book as another one of our vintage page spacer images that can be found here – flowers and stars repeating pattern. It doesn’t get much more vintage than this!
This image is copyright free and in the public domain anywhere that extends copyrights 70 years after death or at least 120 years after publication when the original illustrator is unknown.
