I’ve always found it interesting at how well some otherwise plain books are decorated. A canvas cover becomes art with simple scrolls and leaves. The fact that this flourish page frame comes from a book about art makes it a bit unusual – usually the art being discussed is represented in some way. In a book about the art of Hubert van Eyck and Jan van Eyck from 1907, the publishers adorned the cover with this delicate illustration rather than their beautiful yet somewhat dark and foreboding works.
This flourish page frame would be great for a scrapbook page, a title page or just about anywhere you need to frame two or more smaller works. Light green vines and leaves create shapes within shapes in this decidedly vintage work.
