A dainty flower image is from the late 1800s but looks like today’s modern clip art. A single stem with two leaves and a head of pink flowers, this floral image could be used anywhere you would use flower clip art.
This vintage drawing of pink flower buds was included in the vintage children’s book Holly Berries. It was illustrated by Ida Waugh (d. 1919) and released in 1881.
Waugh was known for her illustrations of children but there are a number of floral drawings that I’ve found too. You can find examples of more of her flower drawings in our special image categories section under the topic Ida Waugh.
The illustration was not identified as a particular species but it certainly does remind me of one of the herbs growing in our garden. The flowers on it are both pink and white, sometimes blended on the same flower head.
