It’s a little crooked and a little uneven but that’s fairly common with vintage page spacers from back in the 1700s. Yes, this little repeating pattern of flowers and stars dates all the way back to 1715. How lucky are we that the owner of this irreplaceable book has allowed someone to scan or photograph the pages?
I could see several options for taking what is already a repeating pattern and use pieces and parts of it to create new patterns. It has a blooming flower motif that also includes some leaves and a smaller flower bud. It has asterisk-like stars going across the pattern and it also has a floral medallion across that middle. You could easily use this flowers and stars repeating pattern horizontally or vertically. Have fun with it.
