This book plate frame is from an illuminated manuscript from 1579 by Lylie. It was reproduced in a work from 1902 about 100 famous English books. This frame has a well-defined repeating pattern. Seems like it wouldn’t be too hard to make this frame larger or smaller with a bit of editing. Leaves and vines encircle delicate, stylized flowers as they go around the edges of the page. How cool would it be for your scrapbook or other art project to include a design that was first drawn over 400 years ago?
