Free mixed flowers drawing from 1867. This black and white drawing is from “Les fleurs animées” – a work more famous for it’s colored drawings of French ladies depicted as flowers. Among the satirical drawings were many wonderful black and white pieces like this one.
In this free mixed flowers drawing, we have several different types of flowers on stems. The drawing is open enough that it would be easy to colorize – with markers, pencils, paints or graphics program. It appears to be from a natural history or botanical work with far more detail than typical page spacers. It’s signed Simon but the artist was not identified within the books.
