Vintage, black and white drawing of a pair of Toulouse Geese. The Toulouse goose originated near Toulouse, France. These large geese actually do not get along all that well with other species of geese. Despite often being larger than the other breeds, the Toulouse will be distressed by smaller, more aggressive species. They prefer their own company or the company of smaller ducks. In fact, they will often follow around the ducks. In real life they are gray and white colored so this black and white goose drawing isn’t that far off, color-wise. These birds do have an orange beak though. This image, like all of the bird images on Reusable Art is in the public domain.
It is so much fun finding vintage books full of wonderful illustrations. Thomas E. Hill’s 1882 work Hill’s Album of Biography and Art provided over 200 drawings for this site.
