This public domain giraffe drawing is from a children’s book from 1880, Chatterbox Stories of Natural History. The engraving is a bit uneven and some areas came out darker than others but I think this just makes this image useful for anyone wanting to add a little grunge to their project.
This giraffe engraving and a large amount of other animal images were included in a wonderful children’s book published by R. Worthington in New York. No author or illustrators were credited for their work.
In this engraving, we have a tall and stately giraffe nibbling at some leave at the top of a tall tree. The giraffe is the only animal in the image though there are trees, grass and shrubs in the drawing. It is the kind of drawing that could be included in a larger work but might not work well as the central, focal point.
This image is copyright free and in the public domain anywhere that extends copyrights 70 years after death or at least 120 years after publication when the original illustrator is unknown.
