Romance is in the air and these two goats appear to have fallen under its spell. I’m taking a bit of poetic license here in saying that this is a romantic image and not just two animals checking each other out. But, hey, this is my site and if I think this charming goat image is fun and has a bit of romance; that’s how I’m going to write about it.
I think it’s a sweet little animal image. The pair of goats appear to be in a var. One is a bit shaggier than the other, perhaps one is a slightly different breed. I think that just adds to the overall charm.
I left the image in it’s somewhat distressed look. The letters from the facing page give the paper a bit of a mottled look. It wouldn’t be too hard to update the background and make it a solid tan or beige color.
Oliver Herford (1863-1935) would most likely be shocked that his work from 1907 is still being discussed all these years later. It is one of a number of charming illustrations from Billy Whisker’s Travels which can be found on Reusable Art.
