This is definitely a great example of a grungy image. I wish it was not quite so smudgy, after all it is the only copy of this great letter H drawing. It’s a bit larger than some of the others and looks as if it were hand drawn on parchment. I like it but I have no ideas for how it could be used.
It was included in a book that made no mention of an illustrator but so many of these fancy letter images are from print foundries, it might not even be unique to this book – several of the other letter images were ones that I’ve seen before.
The book dates back to 1854 so I’m pretty confident no matter who drew this H drawing that it is fully in the public domain. The letter H is drawn using only leaves and vines. It’s quite pretty. Such a shame it is so fuzzy. Hopefully, you can do something amazing with it that I haven’t thought of.
This image is copyright free and in the public domain anywhere that extends copyrights 70 years after death or at least 120 years after publication when the original illustrator is unknown.
