Vintage 1887 advertising image from Scientific American. For $1.50, you could send away for a hack saw frame and 12 saw blades or find them at your local hardware store. Shucks, you can’t even buy a single blade for that anymore. How interesting that over 120 years later and we still use similar saws in our woodworking projects today.
