With native American Indian tribes considering the red tailed hawk’s feathers sacred and it being a favorite among falconers this bird of prey is perhaps one of the most recognizable hawks in North America. Another in our series of birds of prey images of birds, this public domain, vintage colored drawing of a red tailed hawk may be downloaded and used in your next creative project.
The title of this book Birds of Prey, Prang’s Natural History Series for Children bears the name of the publisher. The author was Norman Allison Calkins and the book was published without identifying an illustrator in 1878. How sad when it included so many wonderful bird drawings.
