I think my favorite animal images are those where just the animal is shown without any signs of mankind. When it comes to horses, I think you can really see their magnificence the best when they are unsaddled and not wearing a bridle, like this handsome fellow. If you are looking for a black horse drawing that is in the public domain, this image might be perfect. It is a bit on the smaller side but I’m sure there’s someone out there who could make great use of him.
Thomas E. Hill must have spent years writing his book Hill’s Album of Biography and Art. It was published in 1882 with hundreds of wonderful illustrations and what appear to be stock print foundry images. Over 200 of them can be found here on Reusable Art.
