A white horse, saddled in English tack, appears to be standing guard over a friend. The horse, dog and monkey appear to be hiding from someone behind the staircase wall. The horse is lovely drawn and anyone looking for pictures of white horses may have just found exactly what they need.
Harrison Weir (1824-1906) created so many of the wonderful illustrations that appeared in children’s books, including this one from The Christmas Tree from 1885.
