Public domain drawing of a white house and a chimney. With a lit fireplace and smoke floating from the chimney, this little white house just looks so cozy and inviting. Not centering the house creates a bit of mystery as to what the rest of the building looks like and makes this less of a portrait.
Hill’s Album of Biography and Art is a wonderful vintage book by Thomas E. Hill. It was published in 1882. It was absolutely stuffed full of great illustrations. Some appear to be original to this book and I have spotted some in other publications of this period which would seem to mean they were either used by the publisher in multiple works or they were print foundry images.
This image is copyright free and in the public domain anywhere that extends copyrights 70 years after death or at least 120 years after publication when the original illustrator is unknown.
