Public domain, black and white drop cap letter I image. This fancy letter I image is one of a set of 13 similarly styled fancy letter images which include: A, B, C, E, H, L, M, N, O, S, T and U.
All of these letter images were included in the 1872 publicaiton A Book of Emblems with Interpretations Thereof. It remains unclear if the publishers Bell and Daldy used letters from a print foundry, they were drawn by the author Alfred Gatty (1809-1873) or they were drawn by some un-named artist.
This image is copyright free and in the public domain anywhere that extends copyrights 70 years after death or at least 120 years after publication when the original illustrator is unknown.
