Going for a walk is the name I’ve attached to this color drawing from a vintage children’s book. A young Victorian child walks alone in the countryside on a windy day. Carrying a small sprig of flowers and holding on to the ribbons of her hat, she looks serene, but perhaps troubled, in her red dress and blue polka-dotted pinafore. Going for a walk is another great drawing of children from the talented pen of Ida Waugh.
Ida Waugh (d.1919) drew so many wonderful and charming children’s book illustrations. Here we over 100 years later enjoying her illustrations which were included in the 1881 work Holly Berries.
