A parrot assists his mistress. Sitting at her desk writing a letter or doing homework, a girl’s pet parrot chases the nib across the page. This charming image of a girl and her pet bird is a bit atypical of pet bird images and would make a wonderful addition to scrapbook pages about pet parrots.
When the illustrator is Harrison Weir (1824-1906) you know the drawing is going to be interesting. This one is one of many from an 1889 book he worked on called Bird Tales.
