A charming illustration of a young boy whistling to a small bird perched on his fingers. This vintage children with animals image is fairly large and could easily be used as the front of a notecard or postcard. The young boy almost appears to be trying to teach the small bird how to sing which is identified by the drawing’s title “Birdie’s Lesson”. This wonderful black and white children’s image is copyright free and in the public domain.
Harrison Weir (1824-1906) is the illustrator of record for this circa 1880 children’s book Pictures and Prattle for the Nursery.
