Two young children head off to the dig. Could they be off to find buried treasure? Or maybe build sandcastles at the beach. The drawing leaves it to us to figure out where they are going. I’m not sure if we have two little girls here or a girl and a boy. So many Victorian era boys would wear dress-like garments that it sometimes is hard to tell.
The smaller child is wearing a green striped garment and the older child is wearing a yellow garment with yellow crosses. Their hair color is similar, so they could be siblings. Isn’t this a fun image of two Victorian children enjoying a pretty summer’s day?
