One little girl serves another in this charming drawing of a tea party. The guest is comfortably seated at the table in the garden, while her hostess pours tea for both of them. It looks like there may be chocolate cake too!
In the background we see a pair of flowering trees and a yellow and red house. Tulips grow along a hedge which makes the setting private for the two attendees.
Under the Window is one of the many children’s books which contained illustrations by Kate Greenaway (1846-1901). It was published in 1879.
