Black and white drawing of a family getting ready to take their first skate of the season. A young girl tests the ice while her elder brother puts on his ice skates. The family has traveled through the woods for a bit of skating together in this charming winter scene. The girls look more like they are dressed for a formal outing than an afternoon of skating. With fur collars and muffs, the girls look oh so pretty. The boy looks charming as well in his jaunty sailor suit and cap. Their parents are still coming to the pond but you can see another pair of skates dangling from the father’s hands. Do only the male members of this family skate? Such a shame if that’s the case.
